Adote uma Espécie Florestal

ADOPT A FOREST SPECIES

The program is linked to the SubBosque II Forest Management Project and the Technical-Scientific Cooperation Agreement with UEPA. UEPA has laboratory infrastructure, equipment and specialized technical staff to develop research that is still scarce in the Amazon. The partnership aims to study these species in different lines of research, from forest management to industrial production; bring future forestry engineers closer to the reality of the forestry sector; generate scientific and technological knowledge; and, guarantee the maintenance of the standing forest.

The Program consists of the adoption of species that occur in the forests of the Arboris Group, normally, by students of Eng. Florestal. The adoption considers a field ceremony for which the student identifies and evaluates the tree of its species in the forest, taking responsibility for researching it.

Adote is under the coordination of Prof. Madson Sousa, at the UEPA / Paragominas-PA unit, but has the participation of the fields of Belém-PA and Marabá-PA (under construction) in the convergence of efforts and aggregation of knowledge from the multidisciplinary faculty of the forest engineering course at University. Currently, it has 46 species adopted with the participation of 67 students.
